Skulptur
Papiermaché-Technik und Blattgold auf Holz
Format: A3
At first glance, everything glows: a golden dive, still, almost sacred.
But there are bodies that sink without moving, silences heavier than sound and faces that dissolve beneath the varnish of value.
Here, the gold is not adornment, it is an atmosphere.
A dense substance, shaped by expectations and illusions, that buries more than it elevates.
What should uplift, suffocates.
What seems eternal, is fragile.
And beneath the shimmering layers, there remains a cry. Still, silent and human.
Luiza Souza is a Brazilian-Portuguese artist born in Rio de Janeiro. She graduated in Lehramt Bildende Kunst from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and began, at the age of 23, her master’s degree in Bildnerisches Gestalten und Therapie at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in October 2023. Her artistic trajectory includes projects in ceramics, painting, and drawing, in which she explores the power of gesture and spontaneity as central elements of her work. Currently, through the final exhibition of her master’s program, Luiza develops a profound reflection on the pressures, emotions, and challenges faced by artists in the contemporary art world. She engages with issues of belonging, resistance, and vulnerability.
